Calla

Calla is an amazing label i discovered during my usual morning procrastinatory blog surf today. Her clothing is just beautiful, in three words i would describe it as soft, coy and powerful. Check out her Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

She is amazing, and i love that on her website she has included swatches of her pattern designs. The prints are to die for and i hope you like them too. As a textile lover this just is the cherry on the top of a yummy collection.

I love the whole thing actually, it is the epitome of what summer dressing is right now. You start with your basics in nude palettes, build from that with an interesting print and when in doubt black is never wrong. And the hair, wispy, etherial and you have got to love a messy braid.

Calla has worked with numerous big names in the industry. This is what her biography says abouther.

Calla Haynes, 29, born in Toronto, based in Paris, is the designer behind the new label CALLA. She attended Parsons School of Design in both New York and Paris. After an initial internship with Robert Normand, she worked with Olivier Theyskens for nearly five years at Rochas and Nina Ricci. Using the textile design skills she honed with Theyskens, she went on to design prints for clients including Jeremy Laing, Alexander Wang, Thomas Engel Hart and Erin Fetherston.

Calla is inspired by the “coquine” type of woman and her clothes express this coy and sexy sentiment. She believes that fashion design should focus not only on how a woman looks, but also how she feels in the clothes. Her goal is to provide women with a luxury brand that is modern, accessible and visually unique, with her strong print designs as the foundation of each collection.

What an interesting designer huh. Well that is all from me today, i hope you're enjoying the sunshine.

Tot ziens.
